Sometimes you need an exact computer time. For example, in Internet auctions. But even so it is better if the PC is not lagging behind the office clock. With the right time server we refer atomic clock accurate time directly from the Internet. so goes&# 8217; s
It is not so well known that our computers can be synchronized with highly accurate time servers over the Internet. So for example, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig multiple interfaces for the local atomic clock. The time server we can contact you to let us one millisecond exact time in order automatically to make our computer clock on Windows.
choose Time Server
There are several time server in the world that provide open access to its time signal. In Germany alone, the selection is quite large. But also Switzerland and Austria are represented. Ultimately, it does not even matter if we, for example, choose a time server at a university in the US, as our computer time consists of the time signal and the associated time zone. Windows would therefore take the time to pick up with US stamp and convert immediately correct in our time zone. Here is a small table for some time server:
|Computing Center Erlangen||ntp0.fau.de|
|University of Osnabrueck||ntps2-1.serv.uni-osnabrueck.de|
|European Time Server Pool||0.europe.pool.ntp.org|
|German time server pool||de.pool.ntp.org|
These addresses are not suitable, to visit them with the browser and view the exact time on the Internet. They must be used in the Windows configuration time as a time server to automatically get the exact time. How to do this, you can read the step-by-step instructions in the next chapter.

Set Time Server on Windows: Step by Step
we see the time at Windows on the bottom right of the taskbar. And there they can be adjusted also the easiest. By clicking on the time we open the display of time and calendar. There we click on the link &Change date and time settings; # 8220&# 8221 ;.
Then a window in which we can make various settings opens. It has three tabs, one of which is first overwritten with the date and time. We can among others specify the time zone. But we are interested in the rider &Internet time; # 8220&# 8221 ;.
It contains the button &# 8220; change settings&# 8221; which is the goal of our of clicking. Because there we can select with a hook that we want to synchronize with a time server to our computers automatically and then select which we want to use it.
By default, the list already contains a time server from Microsoft as well as some of the American Server &# 8221; National Institute of Standards and Technology&# 8221 ;. There we can but add our own server and let time Syndicate same. Under Server, we enter one of the addresses from the list above. Then click on &# 8220; Update Now&# 8221 ;.
If all goes well, the clock has been set and we get an error message. If a time server once unreachable, is to try just one other. Now the window with &# 8220; OK&# 8221; closed and we see in the previous window now when the next automatic synchronization occurs. The default is one week, but you can also customize with a little extra work.
Adjust Time Server Poll Interval
To set how often a time server is queried, we need to move into the Windows registry. Do not worry, this is not particularly difficult. First we start the registry editor. We click on the Start button and select the menu item &Run; # 8220&# 8221 ;. Alternatively, it can go even faster even than the Windows key / R. There we enter regedit and click OK.In the registry, we define the poll interval for the time server
We can now click through usHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ services \ W32Time \ Time Providers \ NtpClient
But it goes much faster if we just open with Ctrl-F to search and there to NtpClient search. We end up both times in the same place. Double-clicking &# 8220; SpecialPollInterval&# 8221; opens a window in which we can enter how often the computer resumes to the time server contact. There we should at first &Decimal; # 8220&# 8221; change. Set default is the value 604,800th This is a value in seconds and converted are exactly 7 days. If we want the adjustment is carried out once a day, then we enter the value 86,400th These are exactly 24 hours in seconds. Who needs it more precisely, here is a smaller values.
