Buy Which iPhone? First, the price
The span of the iPhone price is greater than ever before: there are iPhones for 300 and 1300 euros. We therefore make the decision criterion "price" all the way forward: If you want to not spend a four-figure sum for a smartphone, can exclude below the iPhone X is. It is a smart phone for those who want to pioneering technology - no matter what it costs. Who wants to pay 300 euros, has only the choice between an iPhone and SE (possibly second-hand) iPhone. 6
Starting prices of iPhones (MSRP):
- iPhone X: 1149 €
- iPhone Plus 8: 909 €
- iPhone 8: 799 €
- iPhone 7: 629 Euro
- iPhone 6s: 519 €
- iPhone SE: 409 €
Current street prices:
Depending on the model, the price of the memory size depends. In more recent generations Apple at least 32 or even 64 gigabytes installed (from iPhone 8), at least the latter should suffice most. 16 gigabytes in older devices other hand, could be scarce.
On sale: The iPhone 6s provides plenty of solid technology at an attractive price, even cheaper are iPhone and iPhone SE 6th
Screen of iPhone X, 8, 7 and SE compared
The OLED screen of the iPhone is expected to outpace all other X iPhones loose. He also has the highest pixel density and will look even sharper. Accurate need to find out the upcoming tests.
The maximum brightness Apple saw a slight improvement in the iPhone 8 compared to its predecessors. Nevertheless, even iPhone 7 and 6s do not have to hide. Adjusting the color temperature of the ambient light ( "True Tone Display") offer iPhone only 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X. The extended color space P3 is available from the iPhone. 7
Easily knocked off of them is the iPhone SE, because of the earlier panels that can not compete in terms of color gamut and contrast.
Tip "Screen": The iPhone X has probably by far the best display.
Another aspect in the choice screen, the larger the better. iPhone X and Plus models have front nose. But this decision you have to make them dependent on ...
Housing of iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus, SE compared
The best display / housing ratio has by far the new iPhone X - even the home button is no more room. Despite the huge display, the housing is only slightly greater than that of iPhone 8. Here you'll find our iPhone-size comparison as a PDF for printing:

The devices are 7.3 millimeters to 7.7 millimeters thick - so the differences are small. For generations iPhone 6 to 8, the general rule is almost no different in dimensions. The same applies to all Plus models.
Some people appreciate the compact dimensions of the iPhone SE. But the iPhone 6 to 8 can be stuck well in the pocket often. With the plus sizes that is the exception.
Tip "size": Miniatur Wunderland is the iPhone SE, the best display / housing ratio offers the iPhone X.
Camera iPhone compared
The camera has been getting better over the years: on the one hand, the module for optical quality, on the other hand the performance for data processing. With the iPhone 7 and above you drive well, if only for the optical image stabilizer.
A special feature is the dual camera that can only be found in the iPhone X, 8 and 7 Plus Plus. Here stands for wide-angle and telephoto own module. The software also recognizes the depth and can effect how the portrait mode realize. Only the iPhone X has two optical image stabilizers.
In the video you see a camera comparison of iPhone 6s, 7 and 7 Plus:
Here in the gallery test photos with iPhone 8 (Plus) and iPhone 7:
Whoever receives video gets from the iPhone 6s 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. With the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X Apple has still expanded: Pictures can be taken and slow motion at up to 60 frames per second, with 240 frames per second, up to full HD (1080p) are possible.
Tip "Camera": The best you take the iPhone X or 8 Plus, an acceptable compromise is the iPhone 7 (Plus).
Power: Which iPhone is recommended?
The camera modes show that a high power certainly has its charms. The processor A11 Bionic new models from autumn 2017 impresses with extremely high performance. This is likely to come into play especially when augmented reality applications.
In everyday life, this high performance rarely is needed. In the editorial environment, we still have two iPhones 5s in use that are half as fast as the iPhone SE. they also provide a smooth service. To be in the next two or three iOS updates on the safe side, we recommend an iPhone 6s or later for new purchases.
Tip "power": The A11 in the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X beats even MacBooks. Acceptable lower limit: iPhone 6s.
Special features of the iPhone compared
A variety of small and large functions upgraded to the new devices. Here selected functions still were not mentioned or perhaps perished:
|iPhone||X||8 Plus||8th||7 Plus||7||6s Plus||6s||SE||6 Plus||6|
|Galileo & QZSS||x||x||x||-||-||-||-||-||-||-|
Particularly noteworthy is the recognition of solid tips (3D touch) from the iPhone 6s and splash protection from the iPhone 7. With the latter, Apple has removed the headphone jack and instead provides an adapter. The devices of this year offer wireless charging (Qi) and fast loading. The snazzy Animojis controlled by facial recognition remain alone reserved the iPhone X.
Tip "outfit" iPhone 7 offers a lot, but only the iPhone X almost anything. The iPhone SE and 6s (or older) have a headphone jack.
Buy Which iPhone? Conclusion
We can assume that Apple even longer supplies all current iPhones with iOS updates - even if they came on the market originally, 2015. Our top picks:
iPhone 6s: The budget smartphone for everyone
With the iPhone 6s you get a well-equipped Apple smartphone including 3D touch fingerprint sensor of the second generation and 4K video at a really attractive street price:
iPhone 7: The good compromise
iPhone 8 iPhone and X are too expensive? The iPhone 7 is a top smartphone for more reasonable price.
iPhone X: For the brave
So much display so little space, so much innovative technology: The iPhone X is only for the brave, for early adapters. Apple has released the operation without reasonable home button? Is something to it, the Notch Gate? Where there are any problems? If the battery life really longer? There are still so many unanswered questions that are best waiting for the first test.

iPhone 8: For anyone?
The iPhone 8, however, is tried and tested with attractive new features. But worth the extra cost for the iPhone 7? Current: no, only when the street price drops.
iPhone SE: The small iPhone
Who wants to have a small smartphone - please, why not the iPhone SE? The street price has dropped sharply in recent months. Although some technology is already long in the tooth (display, Touch ID), it has still not lost its charm and is also the cheapest sprout inside the iPhone family.
